30 Day Book Challenge -- Day 11

Day 11 - A book that disappointed you

I have to agree with a friend of mine who also took this challenge and go with Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Another highly overrated book that is force fed to high school teenagers. It falls under Kerouac boredom.

  1. Scarlett, the sequel to Gone With the Wind. Ripley does not have Mitchell's literary talent. While the novel satisfied the "what will happen with Rhett and Scarlett?" question, it was not as enjoyable to read. No great lines to quote. I was left wanting more.

  2. I am definitely with you on this one. Although I did the whole AP English thing in high school for some reason I just now read it this summer (I'm 22). I think my teacher was not allowed to teach the book because of the language, or something. Anyway, you're right. I'm glad I read it though, because if I didn't I would always wonder what the fuss was about!
