Kayfabe Monday--May 31st Edition

Another stupid idea from the creative offices of TNA Wrestling: The word coming out of the Sacrifice pay-per-view is that LAX won't be put back together with Hernandez and Homicide once Hernandez returns from Mexico. This probably has a lot to do with Homicide's recent comments against TNA officials. The plan is to have Hernandez feud one-on-one with Matt Morgan once he returns. Also, One of the reasons Hernandez was sent to Mexico was to take Spanish classes and be in Mexico so he's basically forced to use the language. While Hernandez is Hispanic by heritage, he didn't know much Spanish. The idea when he returns, which is happening soon, is to have him do his interviews like Rey Mysterio where he uses both English and Spanish.

As always here is some info about the Latin American Exchange, also known as the LAX: The Latin American Xchange (also spelled The Latin American Exchange, The Latin American X-Change, and frequently abbreviated to The LAX) was a Hispanic professional wrestling tag team/stable in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, consisting of Homicide and Hernandez. The original gimmick of LAX denounced the perceived repression of ethnic minorities by the NWA Championship Committee and TNA Management, with LAX's response as a group of militant street thugs. After becoming heroes, the group continued to stand as proud street Latin Americans, but dropped its militant focus.

LAX emerged out of the breakup of 4Live Kru (newly added member Kip James), which was the result of Konnan being tired of the shenanigans between B.G. James and Kip James. When Kip was permitted into the stable, it was the last straw. At Turning Point in 2005, Konnan attacked Kip and B.G. with a chair, signaling that stable's end. Throughout December, "Bullet" Bob Armstrong, B.G. James' father, tried to get 4Live Kru back together. On the December 31, 2005 episode of TNA Impact!, Bullet Bob encountered Konnan, who expressed himself like he had a change of heart and was willing to talk. Later in the show, however, two other Hispanic wrestlers, the returning Apolo and the debuting Homicide, ambushed Bullet Bob backstage at Konnan's command. As a result, a feud began between LAX and the James Gang, who sought revenge for the attack.

The feud between LAX and the James Gang continued through January 2006. At Against All Odds on February 12, 2006, Apolo and Homicide were scheduled to wrestle the James Gang. Apolo, however, had been released from TNA earlier that month for no-showing an event. His departure was explained on-screen by Konnan, who simply stated that the LAX was expanding, then introduced Apolo's replacement, the debuting Machete. Homicide and Machete went on to lose to the James Gang. On the March 18, 2006 episode of Impact, Homicide and Machete lost to Shark Boy and Norman Smiley after Konnan inadvertently hit Machete with his slapjack. After the match, Konnan tore off Machete's Puerto Rican t-shirt and threw him out of the stable. On the March 31 episode of TNA Xplosion, Konnan justified why he fired Machete, pointing to Machete's loss to Shark Boy. Later that evening, Konnan introduced the newest member of the LAX, the returning Hernandez. Hernandez and Homicide teamed together in a loss to Chris Sabin and Jay Lethal.

LAX were next involved in an angle where they refused to wrestle, claiming that Latinos were "discriminated" against in TNA. The storyline borrowed heavily from the current controversy surrounding illegal immigration. During this time Konnan established a "border" around the Spanish announcer area (where he provided Spanish commentary alongside Moody Jack Melendez) and denied entry to non-Latino individuals (they usually used the derogatory term Gringo when referring to American wrestlers or non-Latino wrestlers in general). LAX often jumped any wrestler(s) who wander too close to the area. On the June 29 episode of Impact!, Jim Cornette declared that LAX's work stoppage would mean a "cheque stoppage". Homicide would wrestle on the July 6 episode, with the stipulation that LAX have a special Spanish ring entrance, announced by Melendez.

Konnan later made an offer to Ron "The Truth" Killings to join LAX. After Killings denied the offer, LAX assaulted him. LAX also attempted to give Sonjay Dutt a similar beating after one of Dutt's matches, but Killings interfered and made the save; this led to a tag team match at Victory Road between Homicide and Hernandez and Killings and Dutt. Hernandez picked up the victory for LAX after applying the Border Toss on Dutt.

On the July 20 episode of Impact!, the NWA World Tag Team Champions A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels made an open challenge in which they offered any team on the TNA roster a contract to face them for the titles, including LAX, who would then proceed to attack the champions, causing both of them to bleed, and then signed the contract with Daniels' blood. On the August 24 episode of Impact!, LAX would defeat Styles and Daniels in a Border Brawl to win the NWA World Tag Team Championship. LAX lost the title back to Styles and Daniels at No Surrender in the first ever tag team Ultimate X match, but were granted a rematch after assaulting Styles in Mexico City. LAX regained the title in a Six Sides of Steel match at Bound for Glory after Homicide performed Da Gringo Killa on Styles.

On the October 19 edition of Impact! LAX started a feud with America's Most Wanted (James Storm and Chris Harris) by attacking them after the four of them had lost an eight man tag team match against Styles, Daniels and the James Gang. The assault ended with Hernandez applying the Border Toss on AMW's manager Gail Kim. During the November 16 episode of Impact!, LAX nearly burned the American flag, as they promised one week earlier, but were stopped by Petey Williams. After stealing a victory over America's Most Wanted at Genesis Konnan told Homicide to use Da Gringo Killa on Gail Kim. Petey Williams made the save, and TNA Management Director Jim Cornette stripped them of the Titles for "conduct extremely disrespectful to TNA and its fans". Despite the then-recently increased recognition of good and bad guy characters by the TNA audience and the rising extremism at the time of the "anti-American" actions of the LAX, this actually infuriated the fans in the arena and stirred up some unsavory chants directed at Cornette.

LAX refused to return the belts, hired a lawyer, and (kayfabe) threatened to sue TNA for violating their First Amendment rights. At that point, Cornette backed down and reinstated LAX as NWA World Tag Team Champions. On the next episode of Impact! they were placed in a match against Kurt Angle and Petey Williams with Cornette stating that he could not strip them of the titles but he could make them defend it. Throughout the broadcast LAX took out James Storm and Chris Harris, as well as Petey Williams right before the title match. LAX seemed to have the advantage on Angle when Samoa Joe came out to tag with Angle. Angle and Joe both proceeded to apply their respective submission holds and made both Homicide and Hernandez tap, thus apparently winning the NWA World Tag Team Championships. But soon after the bell sounded Cornette and LAX's lawyer appeared with the lawyer stating Joe was not signed to the contract and the match must be declared a disqualification on Angle to end the show. At Turning Point, LAX defeated America's Most Wanted in a flag match after they managed to hang the Mexican Flag, making the LAX the first non-American team to win a flag match on American soil. They had another victory over America's Most Wanted on December 14 in a "Titles vs. Career" match after James Storm deliberately hit Chris Harris with a beer bottle. The loss forced AMW to disband.

On the January 4, 2007 edition of Impact!, Homicide and Brother Runt competed in a "Lucha Callejera", or Street Fight. The match ended with Hernandez interfering when he applied a Border Toss on Runt, throwing him into a propped-up ladder. Then LAX entered into a feud against Team 3D. At Final Resolution, LAX retained their tag championship by disqualification against Team 3D, when an apparently drunk Brother Runt came out and jumped off the top rope with a headbutt on Homicide. Konnan was not with LAX; he was injured recovering from hip replacement surgery. The television storyline cover for the surgery's necessity was a Team 3D "sniper attack". He would later be scheduled to have kidney replacement surgery, as well. LAX and 3D met again on Impact! the same week, LAX retained the titles when Hernandez used the slapjack to score a pinfall over Brother Ray. In mid-February, Machete returned to TNA and to the LAX, although he was not recognized as part of the TNA roster, in an enforcer/bodyguard role, seen with a Puerto Rican flag bandanna over the lower part of his face, pushing the wheelchair-laden Konnan to the ringside area so he could continue managing Homicide and Hernandez during matches. The team revealed even more of a mean streak in the wake of Konnan's injury. The LAX formed an alliance with Alex Shelley, as they would attack the family and friends of Team 3D as Shelley videotaped the assaults, which included Brother Ray's real-life uncle, Brother Devon's trainer Johnny Rodz, and Brother Runt. In the February 23 episode of Impact!, the teams faced each other in a "Belting Pot" lumberjack match, in which both teams had a group of leather strap-armed followers that would act as lumberjacks in the match. LAX was supported by a group of "Latino Nation" members and Team 3D had a group of "Italian Family" mobsters behind them (this angle was used to promote Brother Ray's Italian roots). Team 3D won that match after the leader of the Italian mobsters (Sopranos star Steve Schirripa) interfered. The teams met again at Destination X in a Ghetto Brawl, and the match was won by LAX. Later that week, the teams faced each other again a six man tag match, in what would end up being another victory for LAX and Shelley. The LAX would claim to rob the legacy of Team 3D, until Team 3D with their honorary WWE, WCW and ECW tag team championships in tow, would challenge LAX at Lockdown. LAX accepted, under the condition that the Six Sides of Steel would be electrified, a match that played into the LAX's favor with its Mexican wrestling heritage. Before the event, LAX kidnapped Brother Runt and shot him with a tazer gun to antagonize Team 3D. At Lockdown, LAX lost to Team 3D as they were defeated in the Electrified Steel Cage match to lose the NWA World Tag Team Championships. At Sacrifice, LAX failed to regain the World Tag Team Title in a Triple Threat Tag Team match against Team 3D and Scott Steiner and Tomko, although neither LAX member was involved in the decision.

Despite Konnan quitting at the June 19 Impact! tapings, Homicide and Hernandez remained in TNA to continue on as LAX. On the July 26, 2007 edition of Impact!, LAX became heroes by attacking the Voodoo Kin Mafia for disgracing the Puerto Rican flag. At Hard Justice, LAX beat VKM. VKM originally beat LAX when Kip James pinned Hernandez with the Fameasser, however Hector Guerrero, the one Latin American who LAX had actually feuded with (although loosely) during Konnan's tenure as the leader, showed the referee that VKM had used powder to win. After a restart Homicide pinned Kip with a roll-up.

At the following pay-per-view, Bound for Glory, LAX defeated Elix Skipper and Senshi in an Ultimate X Match to become number one contender to the TNA World Tag Team Championship. They were, however, unsuccessful in their attempt to become tag team champions to A.J. Styles and Tomko on an episode of Impact!. In the weeks following, the stable was aided by a heavily clothed, masked figure whom, at Final Resolution was revealed as Salinas. At the 2008 Destination X pay-per-view in March, LAX got back in the title picture by defeating The Motor City Machineguns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) and The Rock 'n Rave Infection (Jimmy Rave and Lance Hoyt) in a number one contender's match.

On the May 1 episode of Impact!, LAX asked Hector Guerrero to be their advisor, which he accepted. On the May 11 pay-per-view Sacrifice, LAX won the vacant TNA Tag Title after defeating Team 3D in the "Deuces Wild" tournament final with help from Guerrero. Afterward, Team 3D attacked Hector and left him beaten, creating another feud between LAX and Team 3D. After defeating 3D to retain the tag straps, they would find themselves in a feud with Beer Money, Inc. (James Storm, Robert Roode and their manager, Jacqueline). Beer Money whipped all four members of LAX with belts, resulting in a Fans' Revenge match being booked for the tag titles at Victory Road. After defeating Beer Money, Inc. at Victory Road, LAX fought them once again for the TNA World Tag Team Championships at Hard Justice this time in a regular two-on-two match. Beer Money, Inc. claimed victory in the match when Roode crashed a beer bottle over Homicide's head, allowing Storm to gain the pinfall, thus ending LAX's four month reign as champions. At No Surrender, LAX was once again defeated by Beer Money, Inc. when they met for a championship rematch.[42] Before the match, Jacqueline was revealed to have attacked Salinas backstage, and as a result she had to be rushed to the hospital. This was done to write her out of the LAX and their feud with Beer Money on-screen, and explain her departure from TNA shortly before the pay-per-view. On the September 25 episode of Impact! Homicide, Hernandez and Guerrero fought Roode, Storm and Jacqueline in a six person "Loser's manager leaves town" match. Beer Money, Inc. won the match when Roode pinned Hernandez and as a result of the match Guerrero could no longer manage Homicide and Hernandez in TNA. At Bound for Glory IV LAX competed in a four team Monster's Ball match, but were defeated when Robert Roode pinned Hernandez after Team 3D had put him through a table covered with thumbtacks.

On September 30, 2008, it was announced on Ring of Honor (ROH)'s official website that LAX would be appearing at ROH shows on October 24 and 25. On October 24 in Danbury, Connecticut LAX defeated the ROH World Tag Team Champions Kevin Steen and El Generico, The Age of the Fall (Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black) and Chris Hero and Davey Richards in a 30-minute Iron Man match. On October 25, however, they lost to the Briscoe Brothers.

At Final Resolution on December 7, 2008, LAX took part in the second ever "Feast or Fired" match where both members managed to capture a briefcase containing either a shot at the World Heavyweight, X Division or Tag Team titles or a pink slip. The contents of the briefcases were revealed on the following episode of Impact! resulting in a future World Heavyweight Championship match for Hernandez and an X Division Championship opportunity for Homicide.

The Latin American Xchange debuted in the International Wrestling Association on Histeria Boricua, a special event that took place on January 6, 2009. There they were booked against Los Dueños de la Malicia, a tag team composed by Noel Rodríguez and Dennis Rivera. The contest was won by Los Dueños de la Malicia, with Rodríguez pinning Homicide following a distraction on the outside of the ring.

On the January 15, 2009 edition of Impact! Hernandez cashed in his Feast or Fired opportunity and challenged Sting for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Hernandez won via disqualification after the rest of The Main Event Mafia interfered in the match and therefore the belt stayed with Sting. On the January 29 edition of Impact! Mick Foley announced that due to winning the first match via disqualification Hernandez will get a rematch for the title down the road. On the July 16 edition of Impact! Homicide cashed in his "Feast or Fired" briefcase to win the X Division Championship from Suicide. After Hernandez returned from a neck surgery on the July 23 edition of Impact! the team went inactive as both he and Homicide began concentrating on their singles careers. On the September 10 edition of Impact! Homicide turned on Hernandez and joined the heel faction World Elite effectively ending the partnership between the two. On the March 22, 2010, edition of Impact! there were signs of reconciliation between the former members of LAX as Homicide came out to check on Hernandez, as he was being helped by medics after he had been laid out by his new World Tag Team Championship partner Matt Morgan.

Thanks to Chris Sokol for the majority of this information as well as various wrestling history websites.

So what is my point to this long rant about the Latin American Exchange? It is the same opinion I had with the long blog about Christopher Daniels--Like the Hollywood Industry, they are stuck in the mindset of remakes. If it is not broke, DO NOT FIX IT. The Latin American Exchange has/had a tremendous fan following. Most of the merchandise sales when they were around were their merchandise. So to repeat what I wrote a while ago--Instead of trying to re-create WCW, maybe some original thought should go into their product instead of a constant rehash/remake. I did not like it that George Romero's films were remade--do I like it when professional wrestling gimmicks that worked in the past are remade? What do you think?

Things I Love Thursday--May 27th Edition

While my foot is sore and swollen, here is my list of what made me squee this week.

--That my foot is sore and swollen! I know you are probably perplexed by this but it is true--I am happy about it. Why? It means I am walking and on the mend.

--That I got another site affiliation! This time it is from a fashion community website called Lookville . It is in beta testing mode right now and I do have a invite code if you would like one.

--Going to a Wine tasting for my Italian Order Lodge and realizing that I am a lightweight when it comes to alcohol as well as realizing I do not like red wine.

--This quote from my Bohemian Babe e-course: I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or dehumanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming. — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

--This picture is awesome:

--Baby corn! You know the corn that Tom Hanks in Big tried to eat like a regular corn on the cob? Yep those. So nummy!

--Starting to work out again. I can do 10 minutes or cardio followed by 10 minutes of ab work. I want to work up to 30 minutes of cardio a day.

What do you love this week?

Kayfabe Monday--May 24th Edition

First and foremost, I want to say THANK YOU to my new site affiliation of TWF Wrestling News. The site is located here: TWF News and Wrestling Forum

Last week there was a lot of discussion about salaries and pay rates of TNA Wrestlers. For example, Jesse Neal is only being paid $300 per date. To add insult to this, he has to pay for accomodations for himself. Others with this structure include Generation Me. Shannon Moore basically earns triple what Neal is on, I wonder how Neal feels about that, considering he is arguably more over than Shannon is. Then, RVD is not being paid per appearance. I am not too sure what is salary may be but it is very close to his previous WWE deal of around $600,000 per year. Finally, Madison Rayne can deny the house show story all she wants but it is true. Traci Brooks lied about an injury last year because she was booked for an iMPACT! when she was in the MEM and was so broke she couldn't afford a hotel. She gets $250 per appearance, obviously she has bills to pay and all that, so it's easy to see that she may not be able to afford accommodation.

Here is my question for all of you: WHY DO YOU CARE? I remember growing up there were three topics that you did not freely discuss, unless there was a boundary of trust that is POLITICS, RELIGION, and MONEY. People usually get very heated about any of those issues. Why be angry?

Also here is another question: If Jesse Neal and Madison Rayne are having money troubles, are you going to step up to the plate and pay for their bills? Probably not as I am sure you the reader are in economic straits and in a "recession" like the rest of the United States of America. I fall into that category. I have severely cut my entertainment expense as well as I am fortunate enough to live at home and save money for old age Danielle.

The point is--whatever TNA or WWE Wrestlers make it is NONE OF THE FAN'S BUSINESS. It is their families business. It is their own private business. Let us stick to talking about storylines, ring skill, microphone skills, ring psychology, how hot the women are and their wrestling skill and other things that make this sport entertaining.

What has made you happy this week?

Fired Up!

Thanks to Michael Harris for this guest post

I was a little unsure whether or not I would enjoy watching Fired Up when I purchased it. The premise of two football players deciding to go to cheer-leading camp instead of their own training camp to chase girls seemed corny. It was recommended so highly however that I couldn't resist taking the chance on it. I was able to find it for a great price after browsing around online and it shipped quickly. Once I began watching it, with my friend Nate, the one who recommended it to me I got so caught up in the fun nature and enjoyable actors that I truly started enjoying watching the rest of the movie. I recognized a few of the actors and actresses from other television sh ows I had seen them in. Most of them however were people I don't think I have ever seen before. The quirky actors and funny slightly off color humor never crossed into lewdness. I will look up many of the actors and actresses in this movie to see if they have any other movies out that I might also enjoy. This was actually the first thing I did after moving back to the area and getting my new hughes net broadband internet hooked up. I had always wanted to have broadband internet and hope all my future internet purchases turn out as well.

Kayfabe Monday--May 17th Edition

So TNA has signed a new Knockout...

TNA Wrestling has signed female worker and Team 3D Academy student Mary Kate Duignan. Duignan, who is known on the independent scene as Betsy Ruth and Miss Betsy Rosie, worked a tryout match against Daffney prior to the April 20th TNA IMPACT! taping from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

It's interesting Duignan was signed as she badly injured Daffney after a botched bonsai drop that crushed the fellow TNA Knockout.

Daffney was hospitalized following the spot with a bruised sternum and a severe stinger that left her with temporary spinal trauma. She did not suffer any nerve damage. The injury delayed the start of the iMPACT! taping.

Source: JamieTnaWrestlingFan

First I want to show you her picture:

Now I am glad that TNA signed a girl that is not a thin waif like Angelina Love (no offense) but do you remember when TNA signed Mickie Lee Knuckles? Mickie Lee Knuckles is a professional wrestler who has worked for a number of major independent promotions, including IWA Mid-South, Chikara, IWA East Coast, Chickfight, wXw Germany, Full Throttle Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Unplugged and CZW.. She also worked for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling under the name Moose. She is most notable for her hard-hitting style and inter-gender deathmatches. I want to tell you a little bit more about her career.

Mickie has been a fan of wrestling since the age of 5. After seeing a Bubble Bath match at IWA Mid-South's Eyes Wide Open show between Holly Wood and Paige, she introduced herself to Ian Rotten and his wife Patti who suggested that she should train to be a wrestler. Mickie started her training under Ian Rotten and Chris Hero, at the same time working security and refereeing for IWA shows. Mickie became the final graduating student of the Ian Rotten Wrestling School, and would go on to wrestle against Ian in his retirement match.

Mickie's debut match was August 2, 2003 in a non-tournament match at the 2003 King of the Death Match against Hailey Hatred. During the match Hailey powerbombed Mickie across two bridged steel chairs. Mickie's neck hit the back of the chairs, causing the match to be stopped. Undeterred, in November 2003, Mickie was booked into the Ted Petty Invitational tournament, losing to Ian Rotten in the first round, but becoming the first woman to be booked in either the IWA Mid-South Sweet Science Sixteen Tournament or the TPI.

Mickie continued to have intergender matches against wrestlers such as Cash Flo and Nate Webb, before Ian Rotten and Dave Prazak began to bring in more women to IWA Mid South and their women's division was formed. In May 2004 a tournament was held to crown the first NWA Midwest/IWA Mid-South Women's Championship, during which Mickie advanced to the semi finals before being defeated by Mercedes Martinez. One of her fellow entrants in the tournament, Traci Brooks, stated that she had "never seen a girl train as hard" as Mickie. Mickie won the NWA Midwest/IWA Mid-South Women's Championship on June 11, 2005 defeating MsChif and Alison Danger in a three-way match. However, six days later NWA Midwest promoter Ed Chuman declared that the title match had been unsanctioned and returned NWA Midwest title to MsChif. Ian Rotten however still recognized Mickie as the IWA Mid-South Women's Champion, leading to the titles splitting into two separate entities.

As such Mickie became the IWA Mid-South Women's Champion, keeping the title for 5 months before losing it to her first ever opponent Hailey Hatred, on the 18th of November 2005. Mickie would win the title back at an IWA East Coast event in February 2006, and held on to it until July 2007 before losing it to Chuck Taylor in controversial fashion, since Chuck is in fact a man. Mickie earned an IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Championship match against Chuck, but was met with disapproval from Chuck who stated that if he had to put up his title against a female, than the female should also put her title on the line as well. Mickie agreed and was defeated by Chuck who then became the men's and women's champion. Less than a month later, Mickie won back her title by defeating Taylor in a No Count out /Falls Count Anywhere match to regain the Women's Championship for a third time.

Mickie's third title reign ended on May 2, 2008 in a triple threat match when she was defeated by Daizee Haze. The match also included Sara Del Rey.

Before receiving a rematch for the IWA Women's Championship Mickie broke her femur in her right leg On July 6, 2008 after a bad landing from a flying cross body off a platform onto Sara Del Rey, during the main event of the IWA Mid-South Summertime Black & Blues 2008 show in Joliet, Illinois. This injury happened just weeks after Mickie signed a contract to compete with TNA, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Mickie made her IWA-MS return early January in a winning effort against Kimberly Kash

After losing to Ian Rotten, in a Fans Bring the Weapons Match in the 2006 tournament, Mickie once again was booked in the King of the Death Match Tournament in 2007, being the only woman to ever be booked for the show on multiple occasions.

On Night One, Mickie Knuckles beat Tank in a Barbed Wire ropes & Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Death Match, however she was defeated on Night Two in the quarter finals by Brain Damage in another Fans Bring the Weapons Match.

At the inaugural Queen of the Death Match tournament in November, 2006 an announcement was made to open the show that LuFisto would not be performing due to breaking her hand punching Necro Butcher during the finals of the Stranglehold KOTDM tournament show. In the first round, Mickie beat Ann Thraxx in an Unlucky 13 Staple Gun Death Match, and went on to defeat Rachel Putski in the semi-final in a Taipei Death Match. This put Mickie through to the final where she defeated Mayumi Ozaki in a No Rope Barbed Wire, Fans Bring The Weapons Steel Cage Death Match to become the first ever IWA Mid-South Queen of the Death Match. However, following match, LuFisto and Vanessa Kraven entered the cage and beat Mickie down, leading to Mickie swearing revenge against LuFisto.

The second Queen of the Death Match tournament show was held in October, 2007 and this time LuFisto was able to make her booking. Mickie was beaten in a first round Barbed Wire Ropes & Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Death Match after being pinned by Storm, however she was victorious in the Semi Final Losers Bracket, defeating B.B. Walls in a Barbed Wire Ropes & Deathmatch Bats match; following that with a victory over Roxie Cotton in a Barbed Wire Ropes & Taipei Death Match in the loser’s bracket final. This set up the final fight of LuFisto vs Mickie Knuckles in a No Rope Barbed Wire & Electrified Light Tubes Death Match in which LuFisto defeated Mickie.

In October 2005, Mickie was booked in the Chickfight 3 tournament show in Hayward, California. After defeating Tiffany in the first round, and Hailey Hatred in the second, Mickie lost out in the final to returning champion Mariko Yoshida.

Mickie has also been booked on a number of occasions for Chikara, making her debut as a Tag Team partner for Eddie Kingston in the Tag World Grand Prix 2005. Later that year she was booked in the Young Lions Cup 3, becoming the first female wrestler to do so. Mickie would go on to work for Chikara on several more occasions, including teaming up with her mentor Ian Rotten for the Tag World Grand Prix 2006. In fact, a six-woman Tag match featuring Mickie was one of only 9 matches chosen for inclusion on the Best of Chikara DVD released in 2007.

In mid-2008 Mickie made her debut with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. She appeared on the June 5 edition of TNA Impact!, coming to The Beautiful People's aid by attacking Gail Kim, O.D.B., and Roxxi. It was later announced that she would be in a tag match with The Beautiful People to go against the team of Kim, Roxxi, and ODB at Slammiversary 2008. At the show, her name was changed to Moose; they lost the match when ODB pinned her.

Mickie signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and made her Impact! in-ring debut on the June 26 edition, with a victory over ODB in a Bimbo Brawl, then subsequently defeating Roxxi in the same variety of match the next week.

Later that week, at an IWA-MS show, Mickie jumped and broke her leg, taking her out of action for a long while, and has since been removed from the TNA Roster page.

Thanks to Online World of Wrestling for all of this information.

So what is my point? My point is this--YOU ALREADY HAD A GIRL WITH AN AMAZING ACCOMPLISHED CAREER and from what I understand, is better. Her leg is healed. Why not go back and re-sign her? Mickie has a cult following as a lot of wrestlers from Ian Rotten's IWA Mid South do. Look at NecroButcher for example. It seems this Mary Kate Duignan girl is only known for being a graduate from Team 3D Academy and on the internet webshow Wrestlicious Takedown and hurt Daffney during her tryout. Personally, if I was trying out to be part of a national company with a television deal, I would try my best to NOT INJURE the current roster because that means harmony in the locker room if I was signed. Then again, that is just my way of thinking. I seriously hope that the reason why they signed this girl is to keep Bubba Ray and D-Von around, but most of the time they are wrestling in Japan, so why does it matter if they are still part of TNA Wrestling?

As always, I believe in Kayfabe.
JoiseyDani

P.S.: The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Sean Waltman's last appearance on TNA Impact, where he was laid out, was reportedly his final appearance with TNA for the time being. It is expected that Eric Young will now serve as Waltman's replacement in The Band. Let me just say that this behaviour from Waltman was expected and predictable. Do not let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you, Sean.

Kayfabe Monday--May 10th Edition

First I want to show you some pictures that I have taken of various wrestlers that are on WWE Wrestling programming or TNA Wrestling programming when they were "paying their dues". Above you see photos of "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal as well as Trent Baretta (I know him as Plazma) to Lacey Von Erich applying the Iron Claw to Angel Orsini (also known as Riptide in the original ECW) to Mickie James (also known as Alexis Laree) and Beth Phoenix (also known as Phoenix). I have a lot more photos, but did not want to make this blog too photo heavy.

Why did I show you those pictures first? Here is the reason: TNA is to launch a "tough enough" style show this summer. The production dates are set for July with the television broadcast taking place in August. The show will be produced by Bischoff Hervey Entertainment.

Source: Wrestling-Radio

Gee, didn't the WWE in conjunction with MTV Networks do a Tough Enough program? Let us see where the "winners" of said show as well as the other contestants are now:

WWE Tough Enough, originally known as WWF Tough Enough, was a reality television show produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and MTV wherein participants underwent professional wrestling training and competed for a contract with WWE. There were two winners per season for the first three seasons but only a single winner for the fourth season. All three televised seasons aired on MTV. A fourth competition was held in 2004, but was integrated into UPN's SmackDown!.

As of 2010, the only Tough Enough winner still wrestling for WWE is John Hennigan. He is currently wrestling as John Morrison on the Raw brand. Hennigan and Tough Enough I winner Maven Huffman are the only two Tough Enough winners to win championships in the WWE, but with Hennigan winning both the ECW World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Intercontinental Championship and Huffman winning the WWE Hardcore Championship. Christopher Nowinski, who didn't win Tough Enough, also held the WWE Hardcore Championship.

Together, John Morrison and The Miz are former WWE Tag Team Champions, former World Tag Team Champions, and two-time Slammy Award Winners; both of whom are Tough Enough alumni.

Maven Huffman and Nidia Guenard won the first season of Tough Enough. Only two contestants were actually cut from the competition, the others who were eliminated voluntarily exited. Of the final five contestants, four would eventually join the Federation. Nidia was released from WWE on November 3, 2004, while Maven was released on July 5, 2005. The first season of WWF Tough Enough was released on DVD in 2002, as was the soundtrack.

By the time the second season aired, the World Wrestling Federation had changed its name to "World Wrestling Entertainment" and the show was renamed "WWE Tough Enough". The second season winners were Linda Miles and Jackie Gayda. Linda was released on November 12, 2004 and Jackie was released on July 5, 2005. The announcement of Jackie and Linda as the winners offended members of the male finalists, who claimed that this was not what was promised when they signed forms to compete on Tough Enough, citing that the forms claimed there would be one male winner and one female winner. One male finalist called into WWE's then late-night Saturday/early morning Sunday show WWF Excess (later replaced by WWE Confidential), who aired his grievances over the decision the following week after the winners were announced. Current WWE wrestler, Shad Gaspard, member of the Tag Team Cryme Tyme, was scheduled to be one of the contestants on the show, but failed a physical therefore causing him to be replaced. John Hennigan made his official debut during the auditions. Despite displaying well-tuned athletic ability, Hennigan's arrogance irritated the judges. It would be another year before Hennigan would make the show.

The third season was won by John Hennigan and Matt Cappotelli. Hennigan, who wrestled for two years under the name Johnny Nitro, is now wrestling on WWE's Raw brand as John Morrison. He is a former ECW Champion and the first and, to date, only Tough Enough contestant to win a major championship in WWE. He is a three-time Intercontinental Champion, and he has held both the WWE World Tag Team Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship. Cappotelli was developing his talent further in the WWE development territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), but was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December 2005, forcing him to step away from wrestling and relinquish his OVW Championship. The tumor was removed in 2007, although it is unknown whether Cappotelli will return to professional wrestling.

Melina Perez tried out for Tough Enough III and made it to the final twenty-five, but was cut from the competition.[1] During the tryouts, however, she met John Hennigan and they eventually began a romantic relationship. She now works for WWE as Melina on the Raw brand and became the first-ever Tough Enough contestant to win the WWE Women's Championship, a title she has held three times. Additionally, Melina is also the first-ever Tough Enough contestant to win the WWE Divas Championship, making her the most successful female Tough Enough contestant to enter the WWE. Both Shawn Daivari and Daniel Puder are seen on film during audition episode. Both made it to the final 75, but were cut before they could make it to the training facility. Both men later went on as performers for the WWE.

The fourth Tough Enough competition was conducted as part of WWE's SmackDown brand between October and December 2004 in response to Raw holding the first annual "Raw Diva Search" contest. The prize was a $1,000,000 professional wrestling contract split evenly over four years with only the first year guaranteed. The winner of the fourth series, announced on December 14, 2004 and televised on December 16, 2004, was Daniel Puder, an American professional mixed martial artist. Puder competed in his second WWE pay-per-view event on January 30, 2005, being the third entrant in the 2005 Royal Rumble match. Soon after, he was sent to OVW before eventually being released in September 2005.

The most notable incident from this competition came on the November 4, 2004, episode of SmackDown, during an unscripted segment of Tough Enough, Kurt Angle, a former American amateur wrestler and 1996 Olympic gold medalist, challenged the finalists through a squat thrust competition. The winner was Chris Nawrocki, and the prize Nawrocki won was a match against Angle. After Angle defeated Nawrocki, Puder challenged Angle. During the match, Angle and Puder wrestled for position before Angle took Puder down; in the process, Puder locked Angle in a real submission hold, a kimura lock. With Puder on his back, one of two referees in the ring, Jim Korderas, quickly counted three to end the bout, but some observed that during the pin, Puder's shoulders were not on the mat. Puder later claimed he would have snapped Angle's arm, thus making Angle tap out on national television, if Korderas had not ended the match. On December 14, 2004 (televised on December 16), Puder was announced as the winner of Tough Enough. Other finalists were:

Nick Mitchell (later joined WWE, most notably as Mitch was released in May of 2007 now training in MMA)
Mike "The Miz" Mizanin (later joined WWE, he now wrestles under the Raw brand, currently holding the WWE United States Championship)
Chris Nawrocki (later signed a developmental contract but was released in 2005)
Justice Smith (later a Gladiator on American Gladiators)
Ryan Reeves (later joined WWE but was released in January 2007. Signed another contract in Fall 2008. Is part of WWE NXT as Skip Sheffield)
Daniel Rodimer (later signed to a development contract but was released in August 2007 to return to real estate)

Source: Various wrestling history websites.

Now I guarantee you this one thing--with the exception of Daniel Puder and Melina Perez who wrestled as Kyra on the independents, NONE OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED "CONTESTANTS" EVER STEPPED INSIDE A WRESTLING RING. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me. This why I, as well as wrestlers, despise this type of programming. You will not see the true rigor and pain of professional wrestling. You will not see all of the travel for a hot dog and nachos as payment. You will not see the wrestlers putting together a wrestling ring or busting their backs and other body parts for a crowd of 20 people. To all those who think this is a "great" and "creative" idea, you have another thing coming.

Remember, I believe in kayfabe,

Things I Love Thursday--May 6th Edition

Well on my way of getting better.....so what has made me happy happy joy joy this week?

THIS SONG BY LUDACRIS

--Reading what my stereotype is on Readers by Author and laughing: According to this website, I am a smart geek (JK Rowling) but I am a boy who can't read (Chuck Palahniuk), that I don’t use conditioner in my hair (it's true, I don't) (Anne Rice), that I am still a goth seventh grader (Edgar Allen Poe), that I keep a journal (I do.) (Sylvia Plath), that I like Foo Fighters (I don't) (Bret Easton Ellis), and that I can name at least two Miyazaki films. (Um, who?) (Neil Gaiman)

--Do You Pledge to Read the Printed Word? I DID!

Read the Printed Word!

--The fact that I am WALKING again. No hard cast, no velcro boot, actual SHOES are on my feet. These past three months have been an eye opener for me.

--LOOK AT THE AWESOMENESS OF THIS CAKE! So bright and colorful....makes me not want to eat it!

--Genuine Health Products! About a month ago I started to take this new supplement called Abs+ which promotes a lean body. I have a way to go to my goal but I have lost more weight while taking it! I am also taking Continual Cleanse which is a detox supplement for the liver and colon and that works too! Thank you Gala for exposing these products!

--That David booked and planned out our trip to Atlanta, GA for DRAGON CON! We are leaving on September 2nd and will be back on September 5th. YAY GEEKDOM!

--Upcoming adventures in Baltimore!

--Always having lots of fruit to snack on in my house as well as hummus with cucumbers and carrots.

--Large ice packs and big fluffy pillows to rest my aching rehabbing left foot on.

--The weather! It has been gorgeous the past couple of days with spurts of Murky Dismal but I have enjoyed all of the sunlight coming into my room lately.

--Getting my Dallas Star back. He was going through a tough time and needed to detox his bad habits and that meant cutting off me for a month. I told him the next time he needs some down time to let me know and to not have me worry like that again.

--Sleeping much better at night.

--Apple cinnamon air freshener that I spray into a fan so it gets all over my room. It feels like I am walking into a homemade apple pie, just without all of the slime and sugar.

What are you in love with this week?

Tootsie Tuesday--May 4th Edition

Ahh...it feels so good to not have an apparatus on my foot...

I started physical therapy last Wednesday. My therapy starts with 20 minutes of ice therapy/massage followed by range of motion strengthening exercises as well as stretching exercises. Last Thursday it was the same thing. Last Saturday I progressed to the elipitical bike WITHOUT my velcro terminator boot on.

Last Saturday around 5pm I decided to just put my foot down and I hobbled a little bit around my room with my crutches. Last Sunday David came over and I walked around my house with one crutch. Yesterday I had another therapy session and did everything I said before as well as the leg press machine.

Now it is Tuesday and I am WALKING. Yes walking. With regular shoes. NO CRUTCHES!

I am well on my way to recovery....my ankle is very stiff and sore still but it is working itself out. Thanks to all for the encouragement and love!

Kayfabe Monday--May 3rd Edition

Things like this make me realize that TNA does not want to be innovative anymore and that maybe Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are secretly working with Vince McMahon to bring down TNA Wrestling.

--First they went back to the 4 sided ring from the 6 sided ring. That was a bad move.

--There has been talk of dropping the TNA Global Title and bringing in a Hardcore Title. Back when Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan first arrived, they wanted to do away with the Global Title but Dixie Carter was one of the main ones who wanted to keep it around.

Then there is this news.

--Former ECW and WWE star Sabu teased TNA on his Facebook page, asking fans what they would think of him going there.

--Bubba has actually wrestled for WCW before, so it is not the 1st time. The original plan was for Bubba to get destroyed in the ring by Awesome Kong, but she asked for her release. The opponent is unknown at this time, but I have it on good authority that it will not be another Jenna vs Sharmell Stinker, TNA has something big planned. (Can we say...David Arquette?) But now this will not happen as Effective immediately, TNA Wrestling has elected to terminate the services of Todd Clem p/k/a Bubba the Love Sponge. Fellow wrestling fans feel that the release of both Bubba the Love Sponge and Awesome Kong is a work, also known as KEEPING THE KAYFABE. I guess we shall see in due time.

Thanks to Jamiewrestlingfan for this news.

IT IS NOT 1998. IT IS 2010. STOP IT WITH THE REMAKES, THE NOSTAGLIA, THE BRINGING BACK OF GIMMICKS THAT DID NOT WORK! Ugh.

I believe in Kayfabe,
JoiseyDani

PS: Remember that long blog I wrote about Christopher Daniels? Well look at this coincidence: TNA wants to bring back Christopher Daniels under a pay-per-appearance deal.
